Biography
Elena Cannazza, an LLM graduate from Queen Mary and Westfield College – University of London, has practiced in magic circle and leading domestic law firms specialising in securitisation since the beginning of her career in 2004, assisting arrangers, investors, originators and servicers on the securitisation of a variety of asset-classes, including hard assets (real estate assets and renewable energy plants).
Having practiced in some of the top Italian law firms specialising in debt restructuring, Elena has developed considerable experience in distressed assets. Combining her debt restructuring experience and structured finance expertise, Elena advises on complex transactions in which securitisation is used as a tool for the restructuring and turn-around of NPLs and UTPs.
Before joining iLS in January 2022, Elena was the head of the legal department at one of the major Italian servicers of securitisation transactions. This work experience gave her a unique opportunity to further build on her capabilities as a business lawyer to expand her practice to regulatory advice to servicers and sub-servicers in the context of securitisation transactions.
Elena is Italian native speaker and fluent in English.
She qualified as Italian lawyer in 2004.
